Set in south Northumberland on a secluded private estate near Stannington village,on the site of St Mary’s Hospital is a pub and B & B ‘St Mary’s Inn.’
This striking colourful red bricked building houses an extremely welcoming pub, which offers a delicious menu from which to enjoy your Sunday Lunch. The Inn seems to be dog friendly for those of you out for walk or drive with your beloved pet. There is also an extensive out door area for those of you who like to enjoy the sunshine ( if we ever get any).
Myself, hubby and daughter-in-law decided to stop off here on our way home. This was our first visit but it won’t be our last. The menu contained a good selection of starters, mains and desserts to tempt the taste buds. The meal was reasonably priced at £17.50 for 2 courses £21.50 for 3 courses.
The starters ordered for our meal were the Moules Mariniere in white wine and garlic sauce and the Beetroot,Goats Curd and walnut salad.
Desserts chosen were Apple crumble with custard and Sticky Toffee Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream.
The portions were a good size and all the food was well cooked and extremely tasty.
The staff were very friendly, extremely professional and attentive during service.
